Suicide Bombers - All For The Candy (Album Review In English)

"If you think you are too old to rock n roll, then you are"

The new album by Norwegian sleaze rockers Suicide Bombers has arrived. The band's fifth in a row from 2012 to today. A record full of energy that originates from the 80s, eccentric like the Glam look of the band members and destined to provoke with lyrics full of sexual references as befits a band of this genre.

The cover featuring band leader and frontman Chris Damien Doll (ex Trashcan Darlings) in a red and black leopard skin in an animal pose ready to attack and the other members posing as 80s rockstars against the red and white striped background foreshadows the albums sleaze vulgarity its content.

But even after seeing these signs and knowing what to expect, one can't help but be surprised by the raw energy one will experience upon playing the first song, Dynamite Playboys. Following the usual style of the band (a mixture of sleaze hard rock like Crashdiet and Hardcore Superstar with clear influences from Glam Punk like New York Dolls to 80s Glam Metal like Skid Row) the track starts with a strong and fast riff with a clean sound on the guitars while it continues at a fast pace reaching the chorus and its many repetitions which cause it to stuck in your mind straight away. Thematically, it refers to the raging nightlife of the band members, reminding a bit of Steve Stevens "Atomic Playboys".

Following in the same dynamic and uptempo style are the intensely sexual "Take it off", "Tonight Belongs to us" with a quick intro in clean guitar sounds by the technically excellent guitarist Stevie "Sex Toy" Teaze. Doll's vocals are full of rock n' roll attitude and the band's rhythm section is perfectly tied.

The following "Out of Love" is the "ballad" of the record, as far as such an energetic piece can be characterized as a ballad. The tempo drops (slightly) compared to the previous tracks. The lyrics criticize the modern era of social media that absorbs part of the real life of man and replaces even the process of dating.

The speed rises again with "You better believe it" and the album's title track (which was released as a single and video clip). Both tracks are excellent examples of composition that sticks in your head and I'd suggest you don't put them in the car unless you want to end up behind bars as listening to them without putting the pedal to the metal following their rhythm is impossible. Vulgarity and glam vagrancy are evident in the lyrics of the allegorical "All for the Candy", satisfying every die-hard fan of the modern scene of the genre that revived a decade ago.

"Caligulizer" follows, a "hit" in a frantic glam rhythm, with a metaphorical reference to one of the most immoral people who lived in this world, the emperor Caligula with all that entails...

The disc closes with the remaining three songs (Videodrome 2049, Last Call and Where Time Goes) moving at the same rhythms sounding like a Hollywood orgy.

The record is a pure sample of rock n' roll as it should be. With this kind of incredible energy the flag of sleaze still flies high!

Rating: 95/100
