The Troops Of Doom - The Rise Of Heresy (EP/Album Review In English)

"The main purpose of a revolution is the liberation of man and not the interpretation and application of some abstract ideology."

~ Jean Genet ~

Somewhere in Minas Gerais , a state of Brazil there is a piece from the past of the first steps of Sepultura and more specifically Jairo "Tormentor" Guedz who recorded guitars & bass even though the bassist was Paulo Jr. in the legendary "Morbid Visions", which from there became known the alleged heritage, as well as responsible for the 95% composition of "Schizophrenia" the 2nd Album of 1987. After about 33 years full of various participations in various Metal bands, it is native of The Troops Of Doom with the main aim of nostalgia of the old times and prove it by creating their musical starting point through their EP "The Rise Of Heresy" released a month ago and ready to take us a journey back in time and the rise of hell.

The album begins just as Sepultura started in the legendary Debut, with orchestral/classical music as Intro curated by Dave Deville.... This particular Intro from behind is accompanied a little by the style of Hell Awaits of Slayer, while then a nice crescendo pops like a meteor in our receivers!
Whispering Dead Words and dry the case is on fire, riffs aggressively with modern production and with Feeling Old School as the expression of their Thrash/Death Metal sound has a mix between some recycling of musical ideas left over from the creator of the diamond Debut of the Brazilian Legends, but there are also some sound colors that harmoniously end up in the atmospheric Tempo reminiscent of the intro between "South Of Heaven" and "Seasons In The Abyss", while at the same time there is a harmonious Progressive scale that brings to mind the Hell of Death in the atmosphere of "Scream Bloody Gore", as the imposing rips and melodic acoustics give a darker character famed by Occult melodies that are like welcoming you to hell!!!

Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea the big stick as it has Intro from Pleasure To Kill Of Kreator and here is given the aesthetics of the ultimate battlefield, which hides both the character of Death from "Leprosy" and the technical points that cover the exposed points and sharp throws that in combination with the drums give volume and passion to how much bulk can be a hellish structure!!!

The Confessional I have the impression that the beginning has a touch of the modern Sepultura, as it has the dark style, the gruva as well as the rotten bass reminiscent of the "Cause Of Death" of Obituary. So we have a more modern sound combined with a very rotten 80's bass! I'm impressed that they managed so harmoniously to keep Mixing on vocals and make it sound like Cronos is performing Venom's "In League With Satan", which if you watch out is not copying, it's just a strange mix, which rivets you as 2 schools come in a nice sound color!

The Untitled, the end titles of their first tracks and the Mosh Pit set-up is a fact with the dynamic drums and boot punching in the red to give more Death N Roll rhythms, with the vocals reminiscent of Swedish Death Metal 90's, aesthetic Thrash Metal of the 80's, as this was something that their acting regular misses.

Bestial (F.....) Devastation how not to get hit with the apparent saga!!! How can you not love the rabies that The Debut of Seputlura had, how not to love Max's rhythm. How not to love this diamond created by 3 Great Musician, in difficult times!!! More upgraded of course, more refreshed the sound, I just miss that rot, the voice that comes out of hell and says "Come with me!" , was all I missed!

Troops Of Doom The first piece Tormentor wrote with Max and they broke up! Piece that the whole world has loved and plays Covers to date, it's no accident! Fast pace, all the same as if not spent a day with a difference better sound production, with Mixing and with a greater basis in sound quality and of course deeper vocals, more affectionately, more clearly in the subject of recording obviously, let's not forget that other times it was the 80s that you needed a whole equipment to bring from home!

It was a Mini job, which oddly had 4 pieces! Which as you hear them, the first thing anyone will surely say is "This is going to be the perfect way to get parents out of the house, I'm going to terrorize them with vampire victims, saying to the victims: WHAT SATANIC IS THIS?"

A cover that sends you directly to hell, makes you nostalgic for a cult, a question of kindness, a rage against the system and the whole situation, it's an EP that has the air of a Full Length and not just an EP.

I think what the acting Brazilian wanted, he combined the Old School atmosphere with the modern sound, he has very clever alternations, very nice guitar solos, nice atmosphere based on bands of extreme sound that made history and certainly influenced him.
One thing I missed was Freddy Kruegger's call from hell, what do I mean? this rabies caused by Tormentor in "Morbid Visions", in any case has many good and some implications which is also something completely subjective from a musical point of view always

This EP was released in cassette via Repulsive Echo. Finally mention that the disc a month ago was released in Digipak and in Digipak + Patch (Deluxe Hot Stamping) through Blood Blast and Metalized Distro.

Dear listener, do you want to melt, defuse, fight and despair? The solution is The Troops Of Doom with their Debut EP "The Rise Of Heresy". You hear it and you work out your neck, Free! In the Next Full Length, I expect as a Wish / request a nice Guest of the Cavalera brothers or even Max, so to remember the old memories From The Past. I think it's something they owe to the audience of 80's!
